The Corinth Artist Guild Gallery opens its March exhibit with a reception with artist Judy Ferguson on Sunday from 2 until 4 p.m. Her works are primarily oils with a couple of pastels and one acrylic piece also included.Many of the works reflect the natural surroundings observed by the resident of the Mantachie area. "Landscapes catch my imagination more than anything else because they can convey a mood or an atmosphere or a time of day," said Ferguson, who works as a hairdresser in Tupelo. "They can evoke a memory or nostalgia that other things don't."
Ferguson studied extensively with Corinth artist Billy Kirk. Her work also hangs in Ridgeland's Jackson Street Gallery, and she presently serves as president of the Mississippi Painters Society. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
